One review called this book “Pretty Little Liars meets The Breakfast Club” and it had been on my suggested books for ages so I was like let’s do it. It did not disappoint. Five students walk into detention, only four walk out; the fifth gets carted out on a stretcher by the paramedics. The four students are now suspects in a murder case. Each student has their own secrets to hide, but are they willing to murder their classmate to keep those secrets safe?
I was hooked. Murder in the first page, mystery, lies. Loved it. I loved all of the reveals and even though I guessed the major plot point I wasn’t disappointed when it was revealed. I was just hyped that we were getting answers. I loved the character development, the stereotypes. I was hyped about the whole book. I listened to the audiobook while driving home from vacation (about 6 hours) and it was the perfect way to spend that time (and the narrators were awesome). I would recommend this to anyone who wants a surface level mystery (no illuminati mason level darkness or anything) but it was it’s twists and reveals and it’s worth it. McManus has another book called “Two Can Keep A Secret” which I’m adding to my to-read list.
Happy Reading.
