“The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor” – Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga

I forgot to review for this! I read it between “Doppelganger” and “Scarlet”!

If you watch “The Walking Dead” TV Series,  or read the Graphic Novels then you probably know about The Governor. If you don’t watch the show or read the Graphic Novels, that’s okay – these novels stand alone. But let’s be honest, you should probably go watch the show (Netflix) or read the graphic novels (libraries and bookstores my friends).

I don’t want to say too much about the novels, simply because the Governor is such a unique and deep character. But these novels (oh that’s right, there’s going to be three of them. There’s two so far. I’m in the process of reading “Road to Woodbury” right now. The third in the trilogy comes out Fall 2013) delve into the background of Philip Blake and how The Governor came to be.

I will say that having already seen as much of the show that is available (comes back in Fall 2013), I feel these novels are great companions to that so that you can really get to know the background of some characters and understand where they are coming from. The whole series is about more than Rick and his group, so these novels really supplement the show well and I feel that they are perfect if you’re looking for some Walking Dead to fill your life while you wait for September.
